| Breaking News |  | Monday, June 1st, 2009: Mexico City Starter Named Aaron's Top Pitcher
Alfredo Carranza of the Mexico City Fighting Cocks outdistanced his peers on the mound this month. He fashioned a fine 4-1 won-lost mark and 2.14 ERA in 6 starts to get the Aaron Pitcher of the Month honors.
Carranza had a very impressive May, finishing up with 43 strikeouts in 42 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .236 average.
In 2009 Carranza has fashioned a 8-3 mark, 2.30 ERA and pitched 86 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .213 against him and he has logged 74 strikeouts.

 | Wednesday, May 13th, 2009: Mexico City Reliever Will Miss 3 Months
The Mexico City Fighting Cocks were dealt a serious blow when the team learned that Joey Hoffman was likely to be out for 3 months after he injured himself throwing a pitch in today's game against the Las Vegas Holy Rollers. A round of tests by the team doctors revealed the injury to be a torn tricep muscle. Upon learning of their diagnosis, the Mexico City manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries--they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Joey is back in action."
This season Hoffman has logged no saves. He has thrown 22.2 innings, dished out 23 strikeouts and walked 9 while putting up a 0-1 mark and a 5.96 ERA.

 | Wednesday, April 29th, 2009: Fighting Cocks Left Fielder Hurt
Warren Butler had to leave the Fighting Cocks game against Thunder Bay after suffering a torn thigh muscle while running the bases. He will be out of the lineup at least 2 months. He told SION reporters, "I just felt a sharp pain when it happened. I knew there was something wrong."
Butler on the season is hitting .318 with 2 home runs. His stats include 18 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
