| Breaking News |  | Friday, May 29th, 2009: Hit Parade! Aguilar Pops 5 Hits! Jorge Aguilar really sizzled at the plate today. In a game played at The Thunderdome, the Syracuse left fielder blistered the Bristol Owls for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace his club to a 10-4 victory.
"Aguilar was too tough to get out today," the Owls skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
J. Aguilar singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off P. Wilson in the 6th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
So far in 2009 Aguilar is hitting .367 with 10 home runs, 44 RBIs and 38 runs scored. He has 81 hits and played in 55 games. |  | Friday, May 29th, 2009: Joe Smith Out for 2 Weeks Syracuse fans will be disappointed to learn that Joe Smith developed a bruised cheekbone while making a defensive play in today's game. After the doctor informed the Syracuse Storm manager that Smith was expected to miss 2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the left fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
During the 2009 season Smith has hit .256 with 11 home runs and 46 RBIs. He has played in 51 games and scored 45 times. |  | Thursday, May 14th, 2009: Williams Tags Storm 5 Hits 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Gene Williams of the Long Island Swordfish.
He tore up the Syracuse Storm to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Long Island 13-5 win today at Oceanview Park.
"Williams was a tough out today," the Syracuse manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
G. Williams singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This season Williams has banged out 39 hits in 137 at-bats for a .285 average with 2 home runs.
