| Breaking News | | Sunday, June 7th, 2009: Bearcats Cameron to Miss 3 Weeks Medical officials from the Carolina Bearcats reported that the club's 26-year-old second baseman, Joe Cameron, suffered back spasms in yesterday's matchup against the Provo Loans while colliding with a player at a base. Cameron is expected to miss 3 weeks of action.
Looking at his season stats, Cameron has compiled a .326 batting average and a .452 on-base percentage, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 27 runs. | | Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009: 5-Hits Blitz by Fargo's Dickinson! It was a sensational day at the plate for Matt Dickinson as he led the charge to a 7-4 win over the Bearcats.
The Fargo shortstop was pure misery for the Carolina pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
The manager for the Bearcats told SION reporters after the game, "Dickinson put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
M. Dickinson singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.
In this current campaign Dickinson is hitting at a .351 clip with no home runs and 21 RBIs. | | Tuesday, May 26th, 2009: Swordfish Triumph, Whitewash Carolina José Cortés of the Long Island Swordfish mixed his pitches well and fashioned a 11-0 shutout today. The 24-year-old hurler shut down the Carolina offense, holding them to 6 hits. He struck out 10 while walking 2.
This year Cortés has worked 79 innings with 35 strikeouts en route to a 4-4 record and 4.44 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 23-49, .319 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 19.0 GB | | Record at home | 16-20, .444 PCT | | Record on the road | 7-29, .194 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 1-2, .333 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 7-12, .368 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 5-20, .200 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 18-29, .383 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 1-9, .100 PCT | | Record in April | 7-21, .250 PCT | | Record in May | 12-17, .414 PCT | | Record in June | 4-11, .267 PCT |
