| Breaking News | | Sunday, September 15th, 2019: Hohl Sits out with Day-to-Day Injury San Diego's star first baseman Jasper Hohl injured himself in a game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, prompting the team to list him as day-to-day. The doctors are reporting the injury as concussion and the best medicine is a short period of rest. "Hopefully I don't get replaced by some hotshot wannabe," said Hohl with a smile as he talked to SION reporters.
Hohl is hitting .336 this year with 32 home runs and 102 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .417, 82 walks and scored 96 times. | | Tuesday, September 10th, 2019: 5-Hits Blitz by Kane "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Steve Kane after his 5-hit performance against the Reds. "No offense meant to Cincinnati, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Qualcomm Stadium!"
The San Diego left fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and pacing his club to a 15-8 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Steve worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Kane said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
S. Kane singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off M. Doherty in the 8th.
In 139 games this year Kane has posted a .341 average and put up these numbers: 15 home runs, 57 RBIs and 110 runs scored. | | Monday, September 9th, 2019: San Diego's Marion Injured San Diego fans will be disappointed to learn that David Marion developed a strained elbow ligament while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the San Diego Padres manager that Marion was expected to miss 2-3 months, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the starting pitcher could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
In 32 starts this season Marion has gathered 10 wins while suffering 13 losses. He has pitched 177.2 innings, allowed 181 hits, and struck out 147, and he has a 4.36 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P David Marion | strained elbow ligament | 3 weeks | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 73-89, .451 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 20.0 GB | | Record at home | 43-38, .531 PCT | | Record on the road | 30-51, .370 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 8-10, .444 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-23, .465 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 18-27, .400 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 55-62, .470 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in May | 8-19, .296 PCT | | Record in June | 14-12, .538 PCT | | Record in July | 13-14, .481 PCT | | Record in August | 14-13, .519 PCT | | Record in September | 11-14, .440 PCT | | Record in October | 1-1, .500 PCT |
