| Breaking News | | Sunday, September 14th, 2008: Johnson Gets 5 Hits It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Mike Johnson. It was very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Johnson went on a tear at The Thunderdome and cracked hit after hit off Honolulu pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond, he had a career 5-5 day and something he will long remember. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell we lost," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.
Johnson got the accolades today and the Honolulu Tsunami walked off the field with a 8-7 win.
M. Johnson singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off A. Phelps in the 9th.
Currently Johnson is batting .353 with 14 home runs and 79 RBIs. | | Thursday, September 4th, 2008: 5-Hits Blitz by Honolulu's Duncan! Paul Duncan really sizzled at the plate today. In a game played at Tidal Wave Stadium, the Honolulu center fielder blistered the Bristol Owls for 5 hits in 7 at-bats to pace his club to a 18-0 victory.
"Duncan was too tough to get out today," the Owls skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
P. Duncan struck out in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off P. Wilson in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off B. Gibson in the 9th.
This season Duncan is batting .312 with 17 home runs. He has scored 97 runs and driven in 61. | | Sunday, August 24th, 2008: Red-Hot Duncan Scorches Loans 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book. The latest honoree is Paul Duncan of the Honolulu Tsunami.
Today he beat up their pitching to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but it was the Provo Loans that salvaged a 10-8 victory at Tidal Wave Stadium.
"Duncan was a tough out today," the Provo manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure. I'm just glad we held everybody else in check and got the win."
Speaking to the SION writers, Duncan added, "It was a real good day for me individually, but not a good one for the team. No loss is a good one."
P. Duncan singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Duncan is batting .314 with 156 hits, 15 home runs, 55 RBIs, 42 walks, .371 OBP and has scored 91 runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 77-78, .497 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 22.0 GB | | Record at home | 43-34, .558 PCT | | Record on the road | 34-44, .436 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-8, .467 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-26, .435 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 25-24, .510 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 52-54, .491 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in April | 11-17, .393 PCT | | Record in May | 18-11, .621 PCT | | Record in June | 11-14, .440 PCT | | Record in July | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in August | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in September | 8-8, .500 PCT |
