| Breaking News | | Monday, September 15th, 2008: Red-Hot Scott Cools Off Anchorage Thunder Bay starter Ralph Scott really did a number on the Snow Bears today, shutting them out 4-0 on 4 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 1 walk and had 8 strikeouts.
In his postgame comments, the Anchorage manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Ralph... he did an outstanding job today."
This season Scott has compiled a 19-6 mark with a 2.81 ERA in 37 starts. | | Thursday, September 4th, 2008: Gai Rips Guantanamo Bay for 5 Hits 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Yu-eh Gai of the Anchorage Snow Bears.
He tore up the Guantanamo Bay Interrogators to the tune of 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the Anchorage 8-7 win today at Blizzard Park.
"Gai was a tough out today," the Guantanamo Bay manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
Y. Gai singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off J. Rosado in the 12th.
This season Gai has hit at a .281 clip with 66 RBIs, 21 home runs and 95 runs scored. He has played in 132 games. | | Saturday, August 30th, 2008: Benítez Sizzles, Anchorage Fizzles It was a razor-sharp performance by Carlos Benítez of the Stamford Smugglers against the Anchorage Snow Bears. He fashioned a fine 3-hitter in blanking them 6-0 and chalked up 4 strikeouts and 4 walks.
In 2008 Benítez has compiled a 13-10 record with a 4.37 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | LF Roberto Costa | torn tricep muscle | 4 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 84-71, .542 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 13.0 GB | | Record at home | 43-34, .558 PCT | | Record on the road | 41-37, .526 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 10-11, .476 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 28-18, .609 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 23-15, .605 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 61-56, .521 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 17-11, .607 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 18-7, .720 PCT | | Record in July | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in August | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in September | 7-9, .438 PCT |
