| Breaking News |  | Friday, October 4th, 2019: Fred McMillan Wins 2019 NL Batting Title
The 2019 NL batting champion is Fred McMillan of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He just closed out an impressive season with a .359 average. His consistency at the plate was a prime reason the 34-year-old first baseman beat out the competition. A slump was a rare occurence for him.
Playing in 155 games, McMillan contributed 213 hits, 9 home runs and 61 RBIs to the Pirates attack.

 | Thursday, September 26th, 2019: Alvin Cerda Chosen SL2's Premier Hitter
Alvin Cerda had a sensational 2019 season against Sub League 2 pitchers and was acclaimed the league's Outstanding Hitter Award today.
The Pittsburgh second baseman hit .368 and collected 147 hits, 12 home runs, 61 RBIs and scored 73 times to win the coveted trophy.
This weekend Cerda will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner.

 | Thursday, September 26th, 2019: Kingston Swings a Mean Bat, Slaps 5 Hits
It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Arnold Kingston -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at Shea Stadium and paced the Mets to a 17-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
After his dynamite batting performance the New York (N) center fielder told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book.
A. Kingston singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off M. Dasilva in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This year Kingston is batting .342 with 10 home runs.
