Davis Slams 5 Hits! 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book, and the latest honoree is Lou Davis of the Colorado Rockies.
Today he beat up their pitching to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but it was the Philadelphia Phillies that salvaged a 8-7 victory at Coors Field.
"Davis was a tough out today," the Philadelphia manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure. I'm just glad we held everybody else in check and got the win."
Speaking to the SION writers, Davis added, "It was a real good day for me individually, but not a good one for the team. No loss is a good one."
L. Davis singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off M. Ramirez in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Thus far in 2019 Davis has hit .308 with 33 home runs and 107 RBIs. He has played in 155 games and scored 99 times. | | Tuesday, October 1st, 2019: Philadelphia Starter Named NL's Best Pitcher When Ivan Gonzalez took the hill in September, he was in charge.
