 | Friday, July 5th, 2019: Barton Fires Shutout in Angels of Anaheim Victory "Pete Barton is really a good pitcher when he throws strikes early in the count," said his manager after the Los Angeles (A) hurler tossed a complete game 5-hit shutout against the Seattle Mariners. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Barton. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." Barton walked 1 and struck out 8 in the 8-0 victory. To date in 2019, Barton sports a 9-8 mark with a 2.22 ERA in 23 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .228 batting average and has 143 strikeouts in 162.1 innings. |
