| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, September 16th, 2008: Alex Blanchard Picked SL2's Best Hitter
Pretty much all season long Alex Blanchard was "locked in the zone" -- that place every batter wants to go. The Checkers center fielder managed to stay there long enough this season to earn the Sub League 2 Outstanding Hitter Award for 2008.
He assaulted SL2 pitchers for a .317 batting average, 140 hits, 13 home runs and 81 RBIs while scoring 88 times.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season.

The Sub League 1 Outstanding Hitter Award has been selected for 2008 and the award went to the standout Florence right fielder Derrick Eaton.
He starred this season with a .333 batting average, 124 hits, 16 home runs, 65 RBIs, .414 OBP and 67 runs scored.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner, and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season.

Strong, steady and solid all season, Jeremy Vaughan swept through the Sub League 2 collecting 11 wins and the Sub League 2 Outstanding Pitcher Award.
The Merrimac ace made 26 starts this year, leaving nothing but elated Magicians fans and a devastated opposition in his wake. He finished with a 11-7 record, hurled 199.2 innings, allowed 170 hits, fanned 88, walked 64 and compiled a 2.34 ERA.
Vaughan will be honored this weekend at the SION Baseball Writers Association annual awards banquet.
