Ahiba 2 Double A 06-29-2009 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Monday, June 29th, 2009: SL2's Top Player Named Gus Powe punched, poked and pummeled the baseball last week and today he garnered a majority of the votes for the Sub League 2 Player of the Week award.
The Scranton Gold Bugs right fielder slashed out a .400 average with 10 hits in 25 at-bats, 4 home runs and 9 RBIs.
This year Powe has hit at a .305 clip with 39 RBIs, 6 home runs and 50 runs scored. |  | Monday, June 29th, 2009: SL1 Names Best Player Sub League 1 pitchers tried and tried all week long to stop Roy Hathaway, but to no avail.
His eyes would light up when he came to the plate and he hit everything in sight, batting .393 for the week to win the SL1 Player of the Week Award. The Florence third baseman cracked 11 hits in 28 at-bats, no home runs, drove in 4 runs and scored 2 times.
To date, Hathaway has collected 75 hits for a .250 average. He has posted 14 home runs, scored 40 runs and driven in 61 runs. |  | Friday, June 26th, 2009: Owens Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Stockton first baseman Eric Owens put on quite a show at Golden Grizzlies Ballpark with a big 5-hit day in the 10-9 victory over the Homer Metros.
In the postgame interview, he said with a smile, "Not a bad day at the plate...5-7...wish I could do this more often. It would do wonders for my batting average...and my salary, too."
E. Owens singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, grounded out in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off F. Garza in the 12th.
During the 2009 season Owens has hit .297 with 3 home runs and 34 RBIs.
