All of the major award winners will be there to be honored for their outstanding achievements in the 2008 season. One of them will be Lee Roberts of the Knighthawks, who will be presented the Sub League 2 Outstanding Hitter Award.
The Malvern right fielder ended the year with a .293 batting average, 125 hits, 28 home runs, 96 RBIs, .386 OBP and scored 70 times. |  | Friday, September 26th, 2008: Sancho Guzmán Named SL1's Best Batter The Sub League 1 has given Sancho Guzmán the Outstanding Hitter Award.
In 2008, the Norfolk first baseman was outstanding with a .297 batting average, 22 doubles, 3 triples, 32 home runs and 86 RBIs. Guzmán also had 15 walks, scored 89 times and posted a .316 on-base percentage.
This weekend Guzmán will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner. |  | Thursday, September 25th, 2008: Best SL2 Hurler Chosen for 2008 In the 2008 season Ray Keys stole the show and the Sub League 2 Outstanding Pitcher Award, too! He did it with deceit, deception and a devastating array of pitches. Not too many hitters figured him out.
Keys paced the Chula Vista Ensigns with a sensational 16-3 record in 25 starting assignments. He gave up 156 base hits and struck out 103 in 179.2 innings with a 2.40 ERA.
It looks like crime does pay -- at least on the baseball diamond.
