 | Saturday, August 23rd, 2008: Big Bang! 3 HR for Long Island's Towns! Three home runs in a game doesn't happen often.
When it does it is something special to celebrate.
And Jack Towns of Long Island can celebrate it.
He is now a member of the select group of players, who have hit three home runs in a single game. He powered three into the stands today at Oceanview Park against the Bristol Owls.
In all he was 3-3 as the Swordfish toppled Bristol 7-6, knocking in 4 runs and scoring 4 times.
Towns told reporters after the game, "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run. Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today I tried on the last one."
His manager added, "He is blessed with a natural home run swing. He gets the ball up in the air."
J. Towns hit a solo-shot off K. Crawford in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off K. Crawford in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off K. Crawford in the 6th, walked in the 8th and was hit by a pitch in the 10th.
This season Towns has banged out 124 hits in 462 at-bats for a .268 average with 24 home runs. He is getting on base at a .397 pace and his totals also include 80 RBIs and 84 runs scored. | |
