 | Friday, August 15th, 2008: Shawn Holmes Suffers Injury The Jacksonville Marlins were dealt a serious blow when the team learned that Shawn Holmes was likely to be out for 1-2 weeks after he injured himself throwing a pitch in today's game against the Honolulu Tsunami. A round of tests by the team doctors revealed the injury to be back spasms. Upon learning of their diagnosis, the Jacksonville manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries--they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Shawn is back in action." This year in 25 starts, Holmes has recorded 8 wins and absorbed 9 losses. He has pitched 168 innings, allowed 195 hits, struck out 91 and has a 5.20 ERA. |
