 | Monday, July 21st, 2008: Ruth's Top Player, Sweeney of Carolina It was a fantastic week for Carolina first baseman Jim Sweeney and it was capped off today with the announcement that he was named the winner of the Ruth Player of the Week Award. Last week Sweeney hammered the ball at a torrid .524 pace, going 11-21 with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 7 runs scored. In 2008 Sweeney has produced 88 hits in 320 at-bats for a .275 average with 10 home runs and gotten on base at a .326 clip. |
