 | Thursday, June 12th, 2008: Smith on Fire, 5-6 Against Moreno Valley It was a sensational day at the plate for Randy Smith as he led the charge to a 12-6 win over the Realtors. The Brooklyn first baseman was pure misery for the Moreno Valley pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. The manager for the Realtors told SION reporters after the game, "Smith put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." R. Smith hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off B. Riddle in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th, singled in the 10th, flied out in the 13th and hit a three-run home run off A. Abrina in the 13th. So far this year Smith has hit .291 with 7 home runs, 34 RBIs and scored 37 runs. |
