In a superb outing the Indians pitcher whitewashed the Detroit Tigers 9-0. Jones said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count." The Cleveland starter held Detroit scoreless, giving up 6 hits while registering 3 strikeouts and issuing no walks. "We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Tigers manager said in his postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose." Checking out his stats for the season, Jones has notched 16 wins and 6 losses in 32 starts, 1.98 ERA and struck out 135 batters in 222.2 innings. |
