 | Thursday, August 1st, 2019: Swinging Hot Bat, Mangano Gets 5 Hits During a player's career, there are days that stand out, and this day was definitely special! Mike Mangano went 5 for 5 against the San Diego Padres at PacBell Park and the Giants picked up a 7-6 victory. He exclaimed, "What a day! We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!" The delighted third baseman was really enjoying the happiness of the moment in the press room. "He was patient up there today," the San Francisco skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. Mangano has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes." M. Mangano singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Jones in the 8th. Mangano is hitting .300 in 2019 with 4 home runs, 25 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 96 hits in 320 at-bats, 21 walks and a .349 on-base percentage. Mangano has played in 93 games. |
