Ken Turner demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Ruth Player of the Week Award.
The Jacksonville second baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .548 average (17-31) with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
In 2008 Turner has put up a .310 batting average with 212 hits, 31 home runs and 116 RBIs. |

He was a hard-hitting machine all week long. That's why Jonathan Lewis of the Waco Stampede was named the Aaron Player of the Week.
For the week the 27-year-old left fielder batted .481 (13-27) with 1 home run, 8 runs and 9 RBIs.
This year Lewis has hit at a .332 clip with 193 hits, 13 home runs, 83 RBIs and 102 runs scored. |
 | Sunday, September 21st, 2008: Ramos Sidelined for 1-2 Weeks
The Brooklyn Yard Dawgs were dealt a serious blow when the team learned that Alfonso Ramos was likely to be out for 1-2 weeks after he injured himself throwing a pitch in today's game against the Syracuse Storm. A round of tests by the team doctors revealed the injury to be a tender shoulder. Upon learning of their diagnosis, the Brooklyn manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries--they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Alfonso is back in action."
So far this season Ramos has 12 wins and 12 losses and a 4.50 ERA. |
